Northern California Undergraduate Research Symposium (NCURS) 2025

San José State University is pleased to announce that we will be hosting the Northern California Undergraduate Research Symposium (NCURS) on May 3, 2025! After receiving a record number of abstract submissions, registration is now closed.

The event will be held at our campus located in downtown San José in Yoshihiro Uchida Hall and other surrounding buildings on May 3, 2025 from 9:30 AM - 3:00 PM.

Jacklyn GatesKeynote Speaker: Dr. Jacklyn Gates received her B.S. in chemistry from Westminster College in 2004 and her Ph.D. in nuclear chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley in 2008. She held a postdoctoral research position at the Technical University of Munich and the GSI Helmholtz Center for HeavyIon Research before joining the Berkeley Lab staff in 2010. She is currently the group leader for the Heavy Element Group in the Nuclear Science Division at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Her interests are in studying the production, chemistry and nuclear structure of the heaviest elements. Physical Sciences at Berkeley, a 2015 ACS Cope Scholar Award, and a 2017 Guggenheim Fellowship.
