Marcella McCollum

Assistant Professor, Communicative Disorders & Sciences

Marcella Cardoza McCollum, CCC-SLP is a bilingual speech-language pathologist and assistant professor at San Jos茅 State University. Her research interests focus on access of underrepresented student populations to appropriate education from pre-k through graduate school. She has worked in clinics, hospitals, public schools, and private practice settings. Dr. McCollum has partnered with teachers, doctors, audiologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, psychologists, social workers, and music therapists to support clients and students holistically.

  • 2019 - Awarded a Lurie College Research and Teaching Collaboration (LC-RTC) grant with Matthew Love and Eduardo Munoz-Munoz to investigate the intersection between Dual Language Bilingual Education (DLBE) and Special Education.
  • 2019 - Awarded three strategic priority grants to provide a cultural humility module to incoming graduate students, a gender equity module to graduate students in their final year of school, and an inaugural orientation for incoming undergraduate students.
