Honors in Psychology
To earn Departmental Honors in Psychology:
- Complete additional coursework beyond requirements for BA in Psychology:
- BOTH (Psychological Tests & Measures) AND (Intermediate Statistics)
- One section of an Advanced Research Methods course in a specific area of Psychology: , , , or (see note below)
- Provide evidence of distinguished scholarly work through ONE of the following:
- Completion of a BA thesis ()
- Honors seminar ()
- Work leading to a published paper or presentation at a professional regional (e.g.,
Western Psychological Association), National, or International conference
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.5 across all psychology coursework
IMPORTANT: To apply for departmental 鈥淗onors in Psychology鈥, complete, sign, and submit this form to the Psychology Department office (DMH 157) in the same semester in which you expect to graduate.

NOTE Re: 121 COURSES: it is the stated intention of the department to stop offering PSYC 121 courses as of FALL 2024. to replace the "focused upper division methods experience" we offer the following list of alternatives to PSYC 121 that a PSYCHOLOGY advisor can substitute for the 121 experience required for either DEPARTMENTAL HONORS IN PSYCHOLOGY and/or as part of the (now discontinued) Psychology BS program.
